Kickstarter Pick: A story-driven, anti-bullying action game called SumoBoy
June 7th - via: indiegames.com
There have been numerous attempts to make games that educate about bullying and how to fight it. To my knowledge, none of them have been quite like what TAPRR hopes to achieve with SumoBoy. The gameplay has been inspired by games such as Bastion, Diablo, and The Legend of Zelda; the setting has been inspired by Japanese folklore. The story is one about a boy who goes on a journey in which he must find the courage to stand up to bullies. It looks like SumoBoy will not only be a good game, but have the potential to provide hope and escape for people who are being bullied as well as help educate others about what they can do to help stop bullying when they see it. Bullies Are Turds. SumoBoy is the Anti-Turd
May 21st - via: cliqist.com
During my formative grade school years I was bullied constantly. Things were stolen, noses were punched, and being the peaceful dude I am, I never reciprocated the nose punches. While that just made me an easier target, apparently, I was constantly shocked, even at that age, by how little adults seemed to care or intervene. Even when things were happening in their immediate vicinity that would, in the adult world, land someone in super-jail. Well, to help combat the very real problem of bullying, developers involved in Halo and The LEGO Movie are working with TAPRR to create what is inaccurately hailed as Kickstarter’s first-ever anti-bullying inspired game, SumoBoy.
