Defeat: Petroglyph Cancels Victory Kickstarter

March 19th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
Victory! Is not a word I plan to use to name anything ever – except perhaps my arch-nemesis if I’m given the opportunity to travel back in time, be present at their birth, and choose their name. Reason being, cosmic irony is a looming, universe engulfing bastard, and it will paint a target on your back for so audaciously daring to believe you might succeed. (Read More)

Petroglyph Cancels ‘Victory’ Kickstarter, Should Other Developers Follow?

March 18th - via: flesheatingzipper.com
This past Friday, Petroglyph Studios – known for being most of the former Westwood Studios guys who created Command & Conquer some twenty years ago – canceled their Kickstarter for their game Victory. Petroglyph, like so many small developers these days, has been seeking creative and financial independence through crowdsourcing and their WWII-themed RTS/MOBA Victory was their key to the kingdom, but with twenty-six days remaining, the effort was stopped. (Read More)

Not So Massively: SimCity's launch fiasco, Victory's kickstarter

March 11th - via: massively.joystiq.com
Fresh from its work on End of Nations, developer Petroglyph launched a Kickstarter campaign this week for its own online RTS Victory. The campaign hit $19,574 in the first five days but has a long way to go to hit its $700,000 target. SimCity's always-online DRM backfired spectacularly as launch server capacity and stability issues left thousands unable to play what they thought of as a largely singleplayer game. (Read More)

Petroglyph puts Victory on Kickstarter, hopes for victory

March 6th - via: massively.joystiq.com
The stack of games made about World War II is pretty thick at this point, but Petroglyph is hoping to add another game to that lineup with its newest Kickstarter project, Victory. Fresh off of its departure from the End of Nations project, the studio is trying something different with the game's formula. It's a strategy game in real-time, but it's not an RTS; rather, it's closer to playing World of Tanks with control over an entire squad. (Read More)
