Among The Sleep – Reviewed
June 2nd - via: cliqist.com
Among the Sleep by Krillbite Studio gained a lot of attention during its Kickstarter campaign. Not only was it a horror game but it seemed to create something entirely unique in the saturated genre. In their game, players take on the role of a two year old. Playing as a toddler intrigued backers into funding the project and even going a bit beyond the asking price. Now that Among the Sleep is finally out we can view terror from another perspective. (Read More)

New Among The Sleep Trailer Announces May 29th Release Date
May 22nd - via: indiestatik.com
Two GDCs, one Kickstarter, various demos and teaser trailers later, and we’re still just as excited about Among the Sleep as we were when we first laid eyes on the twisted fairytale of a game. Dropping you in the hyper-vulnerable role of a toddler lost in a nightmarish dreamworld, Among the Sleep is a survival-horror that plays on childhood fears and a feeling of helplessness in a way still terrifying for adults. You can experience it yourself when the game releases on May 29th. (Read More)

Kickstarter Katchup
April 28th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
Jagged Alliance: Flashback arrives in the Katchup this week. I’ve expected (and hoped for) a Jagged Alliance crowdfunding attempt for some time now. As soon as it became obvious that Kickstarter was a place where old franchises could revive themselves, every week that the mercenaries didn’t appear was slightly more unsettling than the last. Would I rather have a direct sequel without a crowdfunding campaign? Perhaps. (Read More)

Kickstarter Picks: Among the Sleep
April 22nd - via: gamezebo.com
When you’re a two-year-old, you don’t need scary movies in order to jolt yourself into a scare: The entire world is practically a freak show. Among the Sleep is a first-person horror game that puts you in the fuzzy jammies of a toddler who’s trundling through a hostile dream world. The game features no combat—little hands shouldn’t hold knives—so you have to rely on your wits and the environment in order to find safe hiding spots when danger lurks. (Read More)

Among the Sleep takes to Kickstarter to fund insomniac toddler’s nightmare adventure
April 21st - via: games.on.net
Did you ever wake up as a kid and wander about the sleeping house, half-dreaming and completely terrified? Among the Sleep is a game about just that, and yes, it’s a first-person survival horror where you play the two year-old kid. Kids see the world pretty differently to us (apparent) adults, so the whole thing’s looking pretty unusual and very interesting. It’s currently on Kickstarter and has raised well over a quarter of its $200,000 goal. (Read More)
Kickstarter Katchup – April 21st 2013
April 21st - via: rockpapershotgun.com
Two $100,000 winners this week and a few other projects close to the finish line. While I was compiling the column this week, I realised I was keeping track of the number of projects that apparently ‘contained roguelike elements’. It’s about 90%, although to be fair I stopped keeping track almost as soon as I’d started so that figure is entirely made up. Perhaps my memory fails me, but I don’t recall the term being anything like as popular 12 months ago. Of course, some would argue that the meaning has been lost and that anything with procedural generation or a modicum of difficulty is now wearing the roguelike hat, but that in itself surely tells us something. Games want to be like rogue, which is far more agreeable than the days when every other one wanted to be like a soldier or a space marine. (Read More)

Among The Sleep Wakes Up Screaming For A Kickstarter
April 19th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
Baby-troubling Among The Sleep is the only survival horror I’m interested in. The cute game of controlling a waddling baby through a scary house reminds me of the time when I was two and lost my teddy bear. It was pretty harrowing, but my dad found it about three feet away from where I was sitting. I survived, but the scars run deep. I could ply my therapist with more and more cash, and I could keep buying those expensive adult nappies, but I think I need to confront the horror head on. Among The Sleep will eventually help me out with that, but not before others help it out first on Kickstarter. (Read More)
Three Kickstarter Games You Should Fund
April 19th - via: newenglandgamer.com
We all know about Kickstarter and how people have been using it to create some awesome things. Things like the OUYA console, Doublefine’s new game, countless accessories and devices for the iPhone and iPad. But, because this is New England Gamer I wanted to highlight some games that should definitely make you think twice about skipping Kickstarter when finding new games. Now let it be known that I have had a negative thought about Kickstarter especially after Doublefine was trying to fund their game. Turning kickstarter in to a glorified pre-order system. I want Kickstarter to continue to thrive, but I want it to be done by people who truly cannot afford to put their game out. But I digress. (Read More)
Among the Sleep Kickstarter launched
April 18th - via: joystiq.com
The Kickstarter for Among the Sleep has officially launched. Lest you've forgotten, Among the Sleep is a survival horror game played through the eyes of a two-year-old. The game runs with its unique premise, leaving the player to question whether the horrors are real or just the result of a child's imagination. We played it earlier this year and were very impressed.
