The Kickstarter funding drive for Frontiers, AAD Productions’ open-world exploration title, ended successfully this morning with $157,381 in contributions from nearly 4,600 backers.
Frontiers Kickstarter campaign succesful with over $157K raised

The final tally came in at 314 percent of the developers’ initial goal, which was $50,000. It also surpassed all of their stretch goals for the project — there were 10 — and because the total eclipsed the $150,000 mark, creator Lars Simkins is taking input from backers for additional features and intends to implement the top three requests.
Simkins originally attempted to crowdfund Frontiers on Indiegogo for $80,000, but canceled that campaign when it floundered even after promotional efforts on Indiegogo’s part. He relaunched the funding drive on Kickstarter last month.
Frontiers is focused on letting players explore its environmental variety, and discover hundreds of man-made structures as well, as they attempt to learn skills like hunting so they can survive in its open world. It is in development on Windows PC, Mac and Linux, with a release scheduled for January 2014. For more on Frontiers, check out our interview with Simkins.
