Infinity Knights: Xross

Infinity Knights: Xross Launches Kickstarter

Australia-based Timesea Studio has launched the crowdfunding campaign for Infinity Knights: Xross, an action co-op RPG patterned after Square’s Mana series. We’re actually getting a Mana game this year but…why not two? Hiroki Kikuta, the composer of Secret of Mana, has been hired to make the music for this game, adding an extra touch of authenticity.

The Xross of Infinity Knights: Xross is the newest member of an elite group of soldiers who bear The Armaments: weapons capable of reviving slain enemies. You’ll explore both static and randomly-generated dungeons on your quest to save the kingdom from an ancient enemy that has risen again.

“There always seemed to be a missing pixel game from our childhood that involved dynamically evolving and strategic, active combat, and we hope to bring that to our audiences through Infinity Knights: Xross!” says Timesea Studio developer Saxon Goodrick. “We were inspired by titles such as Dark Cloud, Final Fantasy XI, and the Mana series to create something that combined the best parts of all our favorite games. We are genuinely excited to use our wealth of gaming experience to create a new, old-school RPG with the benefits of modern qualities of life.”

  • Cooperate with up to 3-player couch co-op action styled nostalgically and respectfully after SNES classics, Final Fantasy XI, Dark Cloud, and the Mana Series.
  • Engage in a finely-tuned combat system that adapts to different play styles with challenging hybrid hack-and-slash puzzle solver gameplay.
  • Strategize elements and weapons mid-combo to beat the game’s many unique bosses.
  • Manipulate death with the power of the Armaments, creating thought-provoking stories and unique situations through optional quests that expand on the game’s rich lore.
  • Adventure with many playable characters to explore unique static biomes and both static and randomly-generated dungeons, fighting to the very edges of the realm.
  • Enhance, expand, and develop the Kingdom to create opportunities for new friendships, quests, abilities, and inventory. Mine, fish, farm, craft, smith, and more!
  • Breathe easy with a different approach to difficulty and immersion, where anyone can play if they want to.

The cheapest pledge tier in the Infinity Knights: Xross Kickstarter is the Explorer Pack at $27…that gets you a digital copy of the game for PC or the supported console of your choice, plus a digital copy of the soundtrack. Increasing your pledge to $34 gives you the digital artbook; the $41 tier grants you access to the beta version. It doesn’t look like a physical version is planned at this time.

Infinity Knights: Xross is being targeted for a Fall 2025 release on Playstation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC.

This is basically a dream come true for any SNES RPG fan. The pixel art looks fantastic, and I love the idea of exploring both static and randomly generated dungeons. Can't wait to see what kind of secrets they manage to hide in there!

16 playable characters, huh? That sounds like a lot of grinding to unlock everyone! But hey, with couch co-op, at least I can grab some friends to help me power through. Plus, the fact that most of the game is unlocked at the start means I can jump right in and explore without getting bogged down with tedious early-game stuff.

Strategic combat with elemental manipulation and weapon juggling? This sounds like my jam! I'm already brainstorming the perfect character builds and party compositions to tackle those bosses. Plus, the ability to revive enemies with the Armaments opens up some interesting possibilities for farming rare drops or manipulating enemy AI. Gotta maximize that efficiency!

"Thought-provoking stories" and optional lore quests? You had me at hello! I love delving deep into a game's world and uncovering its secrets. The whole reviving enemies with the Armaments thing sounds like it could lead to some fascinating moral dilemmas, too. Can't wait to see how they explore that in the narrative.
