The Electric State RPG Launches Kickstarter Campaign

Free League once partnered with illustrator Simon Stålenhag to bring his book Tales From The Loop to life. The tabletop game became one of their biggest sellers, so why not try it again? Free League has announced a new RPG based on a different Stålenhag book, The Electric State. Its crowdfunding campaign launched on Kickstarter today and reached its goal in minutes.

Both the book and game The Electric State are set in an alternate, post-apocalyptic 1997. In the storyline, a group of travelers are heading out on a journey through the ruins of America, littered with gigantic battle drones and discarded trash (I’d be more worried about the battle bots than the trash). In the game version, you and your friends will be playing those travelers.

The Electric State RPG uses Free League’s Year Zero Engine and was written by Nils Hintze (Tales From the Loop RPG, The Walking Dead Universe RPG) in collaboration with Tomas Härenstam (Blade Runner RPG, Dragonbane, ALIEN RPG), Nils Karlén (Coriolis) and Mattias Johnsson Haake (Symbaroum). Johan Nohr (MÖRK BORG) will be providing graphic design and layouts.

The digital edition of The Electric State costs a $24 pledge. The Standard Edition, which includes both physical and digital versions of the rulebook, costs $48. The Collector’s Edition runs $87 and includes a unique design exclusive to the Kickstarter. And today only, anyone who pledges to a tier with physical items in it will receive a free art print of the weird decayed Sonic-looking statue depicted on the book’s cover. Plus, all backers will receive access to the Alpha version of the RPG, to be sent out a few days after the campaign ends.

You’ll also be seeing The Electric State on the big screen soon: Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown are set to star in a movie adaption directed by the Russo brothers (Avengers: Endgame). But you can be the first among your friends to know what it is through this game. The campaign will remain open for the next 14 days, closing down on December 20. Reserve your copy today!

Interesting move by Free League with The Electric State RPG. Loved Tales From The Loop, but diving into a different Stålenhag universe feels like a gamble. However, with Nils Hintze on board, there's some serious storytelling prowess. Count me cautiously optimistic about this one.

Nostalgia hits hard with The Electric State RPG. A journey through an alternate 1997? Count me in for the feels! Can't wait to explore the ruins with friends, battling drones and reminiscing about the good old days. And that $48 for both physical and digital editions? Shut up and take my money!Already pledged for The Electric State Collector's Edition! The graphic design by Johan Nohr is going to be a visual treat. The unique Kickstarter-exclusive design is the icing on the cake. Excited to add this beauty to my collection. Design matters, folks!

Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown in The Electric State movie? Count me intrigued! But diving into the RPG first to get the full story? Absolutely! Movies are great, but the immersive experience of a tabletop RPG is unmatched. Let's roll those dice!

Kickstarter, huh? I've been burned before. The Electric State RPG might sound cool, but I'll believe it when I see it. Call me skeptical, but I'll be watching from the sidelines until this campaign proves it's the real deal. Good luck to the risk-takers!

Absolutely stoked about The Electric State RPG! Nils Hintze's work on Tales From the Loop was stellar, and the prospect of diving into Stålenhag's alternate 1997 is like a dream come true. I'm ready for the lore, the world-building, and the emotional rollercoaster. This isn't just a game; it's a narrative masterpiece in the making!Backed The Electric State RPG without hesitation! Why? Tomas Härenstam, Nils Karlén, and Mattias Johnsson Haake are the dream team for storytelling. With Blade Runner RPG and Coriolis in their repertoire, the narrative potential is mind-blowing. Can't wait to unravel the tales woven into the ruins of post-apocalyptic America.

Considering The Electric State Collector's Edition, but that $87 price tag is giving me a collector's dilemma. Exclusive Kickstarter design is tempting, but is it worth the extra bucks? Fellow collectors, share your wisdom. Is this going to be a rare gem in years to come, or just another shelf occupant?

Hold up, Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown in The Electric State movie? Call me old-fashioned, but does every great book need a Hollywood adaptation? I'm all for the RPG experience, but movie adaptations sometimes miss the essence. Let's hope they capture the tabletop magic on the big screen.

Been down the Kickstarter road a few times, and The Electric State RPG looks promising. Reached its goal in minutes, which is impressive. However, let's not forget the potential delays and unforeseen hiccups. Fingers crossed for a smooth production and timely delivery. Anyone else here a Kickstarter veteran with tales to share?

The Electric State RPG is now on my radar for game night! Planning to introduce my crew to this alternate 1997 journey. The Kickstarter exclusives and the promise of an Alpha version add extra spice to the mix. Game nights are about to get epic – who else is curating their RPG playlist for this one?
