Tabletop publisher LionWing has just launched the Kickstarter for the English localization of the hit Japanese TTRPG Fledge Witch: The Magical Apprentices of Elemeria.
Fledge Witch takes place in the realm of Elemeria, where the power of mana is kept alive by witches who live in isolated communities deep in the woods. These witches have a team of apprentices working to take their places when they get old. In Fledge Witch, the GM plays the Head Witch and the other players are the apprentices learning her trade.
The head witch presents the apprentices with lessons and tasks, which they have to accomplish though decision making and dice rolling. Various skills called Crafts can aid in these lessons, though not all routes lead to success. Summoncraft lets the assistant call forth a fairy, while Lorecraft lets them consult a grimoire, among other options.
Fledge Witch is not a monster-slaying RPG — the level of action is minimal. Its goal is to recreate the magic school communities you see in witch-centric manga and anime, and the focus is on friendship and cooperation. If one apprentice is in danger of failing, the others can rally around that apprentice and use their abilities to grant them extra bonus dice or boost their chances of success. The game is meant for all ages (though you can throw in a few swears if you want).
The campaign for Fledge Witch will be a short one at just 16 days, but the targeted goal is low (and already met) so it can’t really fail. The cheapest tier is the Digital Edition at $15. A hardcover print edition is just $30 (cheaper than TTRPGs usually ask for) and that price will include all stretch goals. A deluxe edition of the book called the “Grimoire Edition” costs a $50 tier and is only available through this campaign.
The Fledge Witch Kickstarter will close up shop August 24. Get your pledges in before then, and have a magical day.
