Do you like The Legend of Zelda? Are you into the detailed, expansive dreamlands of Studio Ghibli movies? Most people would say yes. How’d you like to turn your next RPG session into a romp through those kind of worlds? That’s the premise behind Obojima Tales From The Tall Grass, a 5E-compatible adventure now being crowdfunded on Kickstarter.
Take a trip to the Island of Obojima where you’ll craft portions, enlist familiars, and encounter over sixty colorful monsters. There are 50 new spells to learn, three new races and eight new subclasses. Most of what you need to explore this place is packed into a 250+ page book filled with lavish Ghibli-esque illustrations by German artist Varguy Art and Australian artist Scott Higganbotham. Ten chapters of text flesh out the island lore in this Dungeons & Dragons 5E Adventure.
Player options include roleplaying as an eclectic College of Masks bard where you can craft versatile theater masks to help you in any situation. Players can breathe life into paper constructs and control the battlefield as an Origami Mage. They can also harness the potent magic that has slowly begun to infect Obojima as the Corrupted Ranger. They’ll also find new subclasses, spells, backgrounds, feats, weapon types, or player races.
The cheapest way to get into Obojima Tales From The Tall Grass is through the Kickstarter’s Digital Tier, which gets you a PDF of the rulebook for $30. Both digital and physical editions of the book can be had at the $60 tier. The $85 Starter Tier adds three Players’ Journals and eight Art Prints. But to get everything available, you’ll have to spring for the Core Box at $185, which throws in the Potions and Ingredients card deck and a set of themed dice in a vending machine box.
