AN ISLE of Wight musician needs help funding his debut album – and those that do can gain access to some exclusive rewards.

Ben Stubbs launched a Kickstarter back in December of last year to help with the production costs of his debut release, and has already hit his £6,000 target.

But there is still an opportunity to donate and bag exclusive Kickstarter awards, including a physical copy of the album.

“The funds cover the cost of professional recording and production, mixing, mastering, musicians’ rates, manufacturing of physical CDs and marketing after the album has been finished,” said the 33-year-old, who’s been writing music for the best part of 15 years.

“I have a few fantastic, well-known local musicians onboard, including Ollie Ducie, Tommy Burnhams and Robert Berry.

“We’ll be recording in Empire Sound recording studio in Newport, and will be hoping to work with Island brands to promote the album.

“I’m trying to create a real ‘Isle of Wight’ story, using all Island musicians, services, companies and suppliers to get the album out there.

“I think this is something people will really appreciate.”

The ten-song collection, entitled Light of My life, speaks of life, love and the world we live in.

The Kickstarter campaign runs until Wednesday, January 11.

“This is by far the most ambitious project I have ever taken on, and the incredible encouragement I have received has really kept me going,” said Ben.

“After several years in the making, I'm ready to take Light of My Life into the studio.

“I've gathered a small group of exceptional musicians to help me really bring the beauty out of these songs.

“My heart and soul is well and truly in this, and I can't wait to be able to share this collection with you in its full glory.”
