Introduced in July of last year, Vaesen has become one of Free League’s more popular tabletop RPG offerings. Now it will soon be expanding to include adventures in Mythic Britain & Ireland, and the Kickstarter that launched today will make it happen.
Vaesen is a game where you and your friends play paranormal investigators in the 19th century who happen to be somewhat paranormal themselves. You have the gift known as “the Sight” which means you can spot extradimensional phenomena that would be invisible to most people. Usually, this takes the form of horrible monsters you are forced to do battle with. But it’s all in a day’s work.
Mythic Britain and Ireland introduces the regions mentioned in the title as well as the creatures of legend that allegedly live there. You might encounter Dracula or Frankenstein’s Monster, or something worse. Free League says the new setting “invites you to experience gothic horror mysteries in the lands of Mary Shelley, Arthur Conan Doyle and Bram Stoker.” The expansion’s storyline and scenarios were written by ENNIE-winner Graeme Davis (The Enemy Within) and illustrated by ENNIE-winning artist Johan Egerkrans.
You can get a PDF copy of Mythic Britain & Ireland for a $44 pledge, or a print copy for a $40 pledge. Anyone pledging to the Kickstarter will get an exclusive bonus: Seasons of Mystery, a book that contains four additional scenarios for the regular Vaesen game (but it can also be adapted for use in the expansion too). If you want a physical copy of Seasons of Mystery, that’s only covered with the $66 pledge.
The Mythic Britain & Ireland Kickstarter was such a success that it broke its initial goal in just six minutes. You have more time than that to pledge…the campaign will be open until December 22.
