A Kickstarter for the next entry in The Longest Journey / Dreamfall adventure series is now live. This sequel is not being developed at Funcom but by independent studio Red Thread Games by some of the development team members of Dreamfall including series creator Ragnar Tørnquist.

Dreamfall Chapters will allow you to control three different protagonists and features point and click-style gameplay. So far we know that Zoe Castillo will return as a playable character in Chapters and other non-playable characters like Crow will make appearances. Red Thread Games also claims that "many of the original voice actors" will also be involved in the project.Red Thread said on its Kickstarter page that if the campaign is successful the money will be used to directly fund development. The studio will hire more artists and programmers to turn its prototype into a full game as well as pay for office space. This is necessary because Red Thread has no publisher support. This is a good thing, according to the page: "With Kickstarter, not only can we make the game that adventure gamers (including ourselves!) want to play, we also don't have to make the sort of compromises a publisher will demand. In addition, we will be able to maintain a close and fruitful relationship with our community and fans throughout production."

For now, Dreamfall Chapters is scheduled to be released in November 2014.
