Chances are, if you played The Longest Journey, the sight of this single screenshot has now lulled you into a gentle, nostalgic reverie. This is our first glimpse of Dreamfall Chapters, the long-in-the-making third entry in the classic adventure series.
The screenshot, while eerily still in its absence of characters, is instantly recognizable as the city of Marcuria, which featured heavily in the first game. It was posted on the blog of Red Thread Games, which is where the original designer, Ragnar Tornquist, makes his nest now that his work is done on The Secret World. Sure, one screenshot isn't very much to go on, but we're teased with a tiny bit of new info, too:
1. Marcuria is back. It's some time after the end of Dreamfall, and things have changed. How they've changed, we're not revealing quite yet.I'm just so psyched that Dreamfall Chapters is now officially a thing, and that it looks so true to the twin worlds of Arcadia and Stark that we've come to know so well -- if ever a remastered version of The Longest Journey was released, this is exactly what I would have expected it to look like. All that's missing? A remastered, real farmboy loading produce onto a cart, of course.
2. Dreamfall took place in winter. Dreamfall Chapters takes place in ALL seasons. The above shot is Marcuria in autumn.
3. We're actually working on Dreamfall Chapters. We didn't make it up to avoid embarrassing questions from our parents about what we're doing with our lives.
