Dark Horse Comics is collaborating with Second Sight Publishing to bring Shook! A Black Horror Anthology, to retail channels.  The anthology was originally announced in November as a Kickstarter-funded project (see “‘Shook! A Black Horror Anthology’”), which had a retailer tier.  The Kickstarter was successfully funded with over $52,000 in pledges.  The 200-page paperback will be released in bookstores on February 28, 2024, and in comic shops on February 29, with an MSRP of $24.99.

The lineup of writers for the 200-page anthology includes Alverne Ball, Rodney Barnes, Brandon Easton, Bradley Golden, Kevin Grevioux, John Jennings, Marcus H. Roberts, and David Walker, as well as actor Evan Parke, who is also writing a story.  Artists include Shawn Alleyne, David Brame, Glenn D. Brown, Robert Castro, Flavio Cortes, Charlie Goubile, and Jamal Williams, with several others to be announced.  The creators include Eisner, Ringo, and Hugo award winners and nominees, and the editors claim that the book will include the largest assembly of Glyph Award winners and nominees in a single publication.

“The project is the collaboration between John Jennings, Bradley Golden, and myself who all hail from the south,” said co-editor and COO of Second Sight Publishing Marcus Roberts in a statement accompanying the announcement. “John and Bradley are from Mississippi, and I am originally from Georgia.  Our brand of horror has been called Southern Gothic horror and has been in the making for two years.”z
