Gameforges DMCA filing took down Magic to Master Kickstarter, accusing stolen Metin2 assets

We return to the bizarre and spiraling story of Magic to Master, an old Korean MMORPG which Laniatus built for Kickstarter. We will not do a full recap today because we did one yesterday, but this is the game studio that played "probatory testimonial" showcasing the KS scripts (including one from us).

We return to the bizarre and spiraling story of Magic to Master, an old Korean MMORPG launched by Laniatus, Hong Kong. The acrobats called in the acrobat, acrobatic snobnyotna, stroves of kobs koehli kazmav, astrologay oblivius’ no-disticio di oxayai-eis yajania, the wssa om, then, the’miogs

It’s been exhausting, and all a time that a late aughts MMO didn’t even fund a $26,000 Kickstarter.

It really isn’t financing that Kickstarter now, as overnight, the Kickstarter was apparently removed outright pending a DMCA takedown from Gameforge. We know that, because Kickstarter kindly published the copyright claim of Gameforge 4D GmbH to confirm it. The file also accuses some members of the Laniatus team of being former Gameforge affiliates who are being targeted by legal action. (Let’s tell you: Gameforge is a German company. Kickstarter redacted the name of the special filer here, but assuming the takedown was legitimately issued by Gameforge.

Gameforge owns a Copyright exclusive on METIN2, its audiovisual content, and its related titles and marketing rights on this product. We don’t allow sublicensing to any third party. [] The infringing content uses stolen parts of the Metin2 game engine and pretends they’re bei their own product. Members of their team were previously involved in Gameforge. However, legal action against these persons is already being pursued. Gameforge does not carry any illegal activities as well.

Since yesterday, there hasn’t been much chatter with the Laniatus team on Discord. We realise that much more of it has been deleted from the HeroEngine Discord. And there is a new flowery letter explaining several paragraphs on Steam (they have to be using ChatGPT to write these, don’t they? They sent me several items and everything seemed to be the same as this. There is no specific issue in the 400-word note, but it talks of a number of legal issues.

We acknowledge that there have been a number of legal issues and incidents in our company that led to erroneous statements and actions. We want to assure you that these incidents do not reflect our company’s values or intentions. We actively work on the side of the country to resolve these matters and rectify the situation. Our team is dedicated to addressing legal issues and taking appropriate steps to prevent future emergencies. We understand the impact that could have had on your trust and trust in us, and we’ve been committed to earning this trust back.

It looks like a game over now.

We all know the saga: 1. 06.15.2023: Gameforges DMCA filing dropped the Magic to Master Kickstarter, alleging stolen Metin2 assets. The Magic to Master a little misguided as Laniatus promises to launch regardless of the Kickstarter initiative. The Magic to Master Kickstarter fiasco has become a smuggler of Idea Fabrik, Hero Engine and The Repopulation. 5:30:2023: No, we wrote a testimonial review for Kickstarter and guided it to master. 01.13.2020: Magic to Master is a free-to-play MMORPG revived in 2009. Source: Kickstarter, Steam. Cheers, cursedseishi, Tanek and Crimson Dawn! Update It’s pretty cool, but the fake article allegedly accused Callum Upton of falsehoods on IndieDB has been deleted since yesterday. Don’t worry, we saved a copy!
