In mid-May, Argon, an emerging watch brand launched a Kickstarter campaign for Spaceone, its first and official timepiece. In under a minute, the timepiece already garnered enough backers and funding for its €100,000 EUR target. With a little over two days left of the campaign, the brand has already pledged €957,048 EUR (approximately $1,024, 831 USD), which is over nine times more than its initial goal. Now, Argon has offered Hypebeast a closer look at the Spaceone in its popular forged carbon option.

The unconventional appearance of Spaceone stems from Argon’s co-founder, Theo Auffret, and his passion for spaceships. “He draws them a lot, and then at some point he wanted to design a spaceship, but for the wrist,” co-founder Guillaume Laidet tells Hypebeast. Despite the case’s bulky silhouette, which measures almost 52mm in diameter, the time-teller weighs a mere 30 grams and sits rather comfortably on the wrist.

When it comes to the time-teller’s technical specs, Spaceone’s jumping hour mechanic is developed completely in-house, making it one of its biggest selling points. Just as much as the function ensures an uncomplicated reading of time, there’s a certain satisfaction to watching the hour jump. The idea can seem a little silly from a third-person’s standpoint, but it’s the kind of satisfying experience that only the wearer can truly relish.

Arriving with two rubber straps, one in black and the other in orange, the latter provides a bold look when paired with the darkly-hued forged carbon case. Meanwhile, the black rubber strap offers a more subtle and stealthy mood against the unique striations of the watch case. On the caseback, the self-winding P024 movement is partially revealed via a cut-out design. Across the middle, Argon’s logo is embossed with raised letter polishing, complete with an imprint that reads “MANUFACTURED ON EARTH.”

Take a detailed look at the Spaceone in forged carbon above. The timepiece is aimed at passionate watch collectors, and design aficionados with a penchant for futuristic aesthetics. For those who are interested, the watch is currently still available via Argon’s Kickstarter page. The campaign and pre-order window will terminate on June 10, 3:49 p.m. CEST.

Elsewhere in watches, Billionaire Boys Club and G-SHOCK are joining forces for a limited capsule collection.
