Dead Detectives Society
If the name is not a dead giveaway (pun intended), the Dead Detectives Society brings together stories featuring, well, dead detectives. Each of the tales focuses on paranormal mysteries and investigators as spooky as the cases they solve. Plus, many of the characters featured in the horror anthology book have popped up in other comics and stories within the horror genre.
The cover of this new anthology comes from Hugo Award-winning writer and artist John Jennings. It features a blend of all the creepy investigative characters found inside. As for what is inside the cover, here is who and what you can expect from Dead Detectives Society:
- “Mystery Meat: A Dan Shamble, Zombie P.I. Adventure” from Kevin J Anderson
- “Dead Drop: A Johnny Fade Story” from Nancy Holder and Alan Philipson
- “The Ghost Thieves” from John Jennings
- “Jin G. Fox, Death Investigator: Vixen Screams” from Rena Mason
- “Half A Monster Is Better Than None” from Tim Waggoner
- “Snippy” from Jeff Strand

Monstrous Magazine
Along with Dead Detectives Society, Monstrous Books is also launching the Monstrous Magazine. This magazine of “the mysterious and macabre” features a mix of comics, prose, and articles. The collectible cover comes from Colton Worley, known for Classic Monsters Unleashedand The Shadow.
Meanwhile, inside the issue, Elvira Mistress of the Dark writer David Avallone pens an essay on the legacy of his father, Michael Avallone. Plus, there is a reprint of Michael Avallone’s first published story, “The Man Who Walked On Air,” in the issue. Then there is the very first Dead Jack comic, “Dead Jack and Oswald Meet Frankenstein” by James Aquilone and J.K. Woodward. Finally, Nancy A. Collins and Zac Atkinson bring the comic story “Monster Rally” to readers.
