HooKee: Smart, portable gym launches on Kickstarter

Staying (or getting) healthy and fit was guaranteed to be high on many people’s list of New Year’s resolutions in 2023. HooKee wants to prove that you don’t necessarily have to go to a gym and pay a monthly fee to do so. A smart and mobile gym that is now being funded via crowdfunding on Kickstarter.

From squats to dead lifts and many more exercises, users of the HooKee smart and mobile gym should be able to benefit. The compact device offers resistance of up to 100 pounds or around 45 kilograms to enable even intense strength training. Adjustments are made in 10-pound or 4.5-kg increments.

Thanks to HydroFlex technology, the HooKee uses water power to generate this tremendous resistance. This is said to make resistance particularly controllable and safe during strength training. At the same time, it also reduces weight, because without water the mobile gym weighs just around 2.5 kilograms and, with dimensions of 739 x 190 x 160 millimeters, also fits into larger bags.

Despite these compact dimensions, the device is said to be able to perform over 100 full-body workouts. The sports device is powered by a rechargeable battery that is said to last for over 10,000 repetitions of individual exercises per charge before it needs to be recharged.

By using water, HooKee is also said to be particularly safe. Resistance is only generated when the water is “pushed”. Without this force, there is also no resistance, so the device remains in its previous position – minimizing safety risks.

App tracking and smart use

The HooKee also works with the Halytus app to track fitness exercises and progress. If desired, the user’s own performance data can also be shared and compared with the worldwide community. There are also workout classes offered within the app to help you improve.

Mounted on a base plate, the exercises should be able to be tracked precisely. In addition, the grip has a remote trigger called H-con, which allows you to access your smartphone wirelessly.

Prices and Availability

The HooKee smart, portable gym is currently being crowdfunded via Kickstarter. The project has long since exceeded its original target amount of 4,788 euros, currently at 165,043 euros, with 29 days left in the campaign.

In the New Year’s deal, you get a HooKee along with other accessories for the equivalent of about 205 euros. On the other hand, you will have to pay just under 243 Euros for the full HooKee kit, which also includes the H-Board and other accessories. Worldwide delivery is scheduled for April 2023.
