Gamers are really "feline" Neko Ghost Jump! as it just got funded on KickStarter with over $15,000 raised. With 2 days to go, the developer Burgos Games has added a stretch goal for a Limited Lives Mode; you only have 9 lives and then your game save is deleted.

Neko Ghost Jump! is inspired by Super Paper Mario on the Nintendo Wii. As the player, you can switch the perspective from 2D to 3D and vice versa, creating a cool mechanic for solving puzzles. Your cat, Nekoman, can also turn into a ghost for when the need arises — because why not?

Unlike some 3D platformers, collecting coins can actually be a benefit as it unlocks more customization options for your Nekoman. The developer on its KickStarter page touts that there are "hundreds of customization combinations" for players to discover.

The aim of the game is to save your beloved Nekogirl from the clutches of the Space Dog Pirates after she and your friends get abducted by them during a wedding ceremony. Is this inspired by Super Mario's concept of the villain taking the girl? In Nekoman's path to freeing his love stands 8 different environments with 40 levels in total, and a boss at the end of every fifth level.

The staff is made up of a development team that has worked on Beyond Sol, Tyto Online, and Contagion VR: Outbreak, among others. A neat fact about Burgos Games is that they're remotely working worldwide on the project.

If you are interested in giving this a go, there's a demo available right now for the game on Steam. If you can't play it on PC, you can wait for the game's release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, Mac, and Linux. Additionally, it will be seeing a release on itch.io and Gamejolt for those who don't like to use Steam. January 2021 is the estimated delivery date for this 2D/3D platforming adventure.

Burgos Games has stated that the game is 60% complete with its content, but it said that the it is "mostly about being able to get to the finish line with as much polish and support as possible."
