The classic tabletop RPG Pathfinder is coming to PC monitors…..again! After the success of Pathfinder: Kingmaker, creator Owlcat Games is introducing a sequel….Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous. The crowdfunding campaign launched yesterday.
Like its predecessor, Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous translates the mechanics of the tabletop game into a video game format, while adding a few extra touches of its own. A new feature called Crusade Commander will allow players to “lead a military campaign of mythic proportions.” Owlcat has also revised the Kingdom Management system first seen in Kingmaker; they say this is to match the new game’s narrative.
“Pathfinder: Kingmaker featured kingdom building, which allowed fans to feel as if they were actually developing a country and gave us the opportunity to see companion characters from a different angle,” says Alexander Mishulin, Creative Director of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. “The kingdom building was well-received by many players. This encouraged us to introduce a similar feature into Wrath of the Righteous.”
Your ultimate goal in the game is to take back the city of Drezen, which has been conquered by demonic forces. This will take some effort as the walls are heavily fortified and you’re dealing with limited resources. To improve your chances of winning the war, you’ll need to strike alliances, but who can you really trust?
“Our Kickstarter campaign will allow our team to flesh out each Mythic Path with exclusive story branches and abilities that influence the game world,” says Mishulins. “It will also allow us to produce more content like new classes, races, and companions.”
