The release date for The Banner Saga 3 has been announced, and we'll see the final instalment of developer Stoic's trilogy come to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on July 24.

The release date was shared in a tweet from the game's official account, and while the listed platforms didn't include the Switch, the developer confirmed in a reply that the Switch release will also be on July 24, and that The Banner Saga 1 and 2 will release on the platform before then.

Preorders for the title are live now, with a Standard, Deluxe, and Legendary Edition available on PC and Mac. The Standard Edition is just the digital game download. The Deluxe Edition gets you the OST, a digital wallpaper, a digital copy of the world map, and a Gold Wasp in-game item, as well as a digital game download.

The Legendary Edition gets you everything included in the Deluxe Edition, as well the Shadow Walker heroic title, the Petrie Clan Ring legendary item, and a digital copy of James Fadeley's tie-in novel to the game, The Gift of Hadrborg.

Both Kickstarter backers and players who preorder on Mac and PC will receive the Dredge Ally pack, containing Kivi, a level 10 Dredge Stoneguard character with the tank ability, the Shield Cleaver hero title, The Banner Saga 3 Overture Track, Dredge Heraldry, and Sculptor's Tools, a passive Return the Favor ability.

Console players can preorder The Banner Saga Trilogy: Bonus Edition, also launching on July 24, which includes all three titles, a Best Of soundtrack, mini artbook, collectible poster, and the Horn of Lichbaen in-game item. The release date for this edition on Switch is yet to be confirmed.

The Kickstarter campaign for The Banner Saga 3 launched at the start of last year and ended after reaching just over $400,000, doubling its original goal of $200,000.

Stoic has promised to bring the saga to a satisfactory close, with the ex-Bioware devs drawing on their experience with Mass Effect 3. You can check out our review for the Banner Saga 2 right here.
