This bizarre smartphone case means you no longer have to choose between iPhone and Android
The days of choosing between iOS and Android could soon be over
The rivalry between iOS and Android has dominated the mobile phone market for the past decade - and your choice of software says as much about you as your preference for cats or dogs.
But one company has come up with a solution that means you no longer have to choose between the two operating systems.
Israeli company Esti has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for an iPhone case that essentially has an Android phone built into it.
The so-called Eye case shares the iPhone's speaker, microphone and cameras, but is otherwise a fully-functional standalone smartphone.
The case comes with its own 5-inch display, 2800mAh battery with wireless charging, two SIM slots, a headphone jack and up to 256GB of storage.
It runs Android 7.1 Nougat - the latest version of Google's operating system - and offers full access to the Android app store, Google Play.
The Eye fits onto your iPhone just like any other case, resulting in a bizarre two-sided device, where one side is an iPhone and the other an Android phone.
While Apple purists may recoil in horror at this "Franken-phone" concept, it has proved popular on Kickstarter, smashing though its $95,000 funding target in just a day.
The cases cost $189 (£155), which is roughly the same as a mid- to low-range Android smartphone, and Esti hopes to start shipping them to backers in August or September this year.
