Movie About Mendham's Maggie Doyne Seeks Kickstarter Backers
Mendham's Maggie Doyne was recognized as CNN's Hero Of The Year for her humanitarian work, and might be the focus of a new film.
MENDHAM, NJ— When Maggie Doyne left Mendham for Nepal, she thought it would just be for a pre-college gap year. Over a decade later, she's been named a CNN Hero of the Year, is the legal guardian to 49 children, and might be the focus of a new documentary film.
"Love Letters for My Children: The Maggie Doyne Documentary" wants to capture Doyne's efforts in Nepal. Jeremy Power Regimbal has been filming for a year so far, and is hoping funds from a Kickstarter campaign will enable him to finish capturing Doyne's story.
The film will follow the building and opening of Kopila Valley Primary School's new campus in Nepal. To do that, Regimbal is hoping to raise $150,000. So far, $104,357 has been raised, with just four days left to donate.
