Medical augmented reality company ILLUSIO launched a Kickstarter campaign to distribute its ‘Virtual Mirror’ breast simulation for non-surgeons.

The application allows non-surgeons and patients to see a virtual simulation of a possible breast augmentation surgery.

Using a proprietary elastic band and a tracking marker worn around the woman’s chest, the ILLUSIO app provides a real-time image of the patient’s face and body with superimposed breasts. As a result a patient can see how she’d look from different angles.

Speaking with Haptical,

, Co-founder and CEO of ILLUSIO imaging told, augmented reality technology can bring new improvements for the healthcare industry.

“By combining digital images with real-life and real-time environments, doctors and patients can communicate better than ever before. Instead of describing problems and situations verbally, people can now ‘speak visually,’ which is simply a better way to communicate.”

Earlier this year the company had launched a trial version of the ILLUSIO virtual mirror for breast augmentation patients.

ILLUISO’s patient-facing app will be available through a Kickstarter campaign by making a contribution of $20 or more.
