Confining yourself next to a wall charger is pretty much the bane of your low-battery life existence. But thanks to a new Kickstarter, charging might get a new wireless UP-grade.
Esquire reports that creative tech company AR Design recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to create the OvRcharge, a charger that levitates your phone while it rotates. And with 53 backers that have already contributed almost half of the $30,000 goal so far, it’s really lifting off the ground.
It's hard to believe without seeing it with your own eyes, but Gizmodo saw it in action at the Consumer Electronics Show and reports this sort of technology has been successfully pulled off before. What we do know is that it’s slated to contain a wooden base, and through a special phone case including an induction receiver and invisible magnet fields to offset gravity, it’ll transmit power to your phone. Even if charging has stopped, it will continue to magically spin.
The case supports tablets, but the drawback is that it will only support Apple and Samsung phones. Even so, it's cool to think we might soon be freed from the shackles of wires.
