Build awesome robots with DRINKING STRAWS using Quirkbot's super-simple system

Quirkbot system for building and programming robots has been described as the 'simplest in the world'

Building your own weird and wonderful crawling, blinking, noise-making robots is now super-simple thanks to Quirkbot.

The system combines a tiny computer, sensors and motors with drinking straws and a range of connectors.

By joining them all together and using a simple programming tool on a computer, you can create a variety of robots including a spiderbot, carnivorous plant and a hulabot.

The biggest challenge in developing the Quirkbot system was "making it simple to use without closing the system", lead designer Kristofer Hagbard told Mirror Online.

"Creating something simple and fun that doesn't intimidate the beginner, but that still let you grow and explore new ways of playing.

"Many toys have very clear limits to what they can do, so they become boring after a while. And most things you find in a typical electronics 'beginner kit' is way too complicated and cumbersome to use."

The project is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, and is halfway towards its target of $50,000 in less than one day.
