ZionEyez Kickstarter campaign provides refund after 3 years

March 6th - via: thelostzine.com
Way back in 2011 a crowd funding campaign was launched for an exciting new video product which would be embedded in a normal sized pair of glasses. This project generated a huge amount of interest and managed to raise $340,000 from 2106 backers through the Kickstarter campaign, they also went on to sell pre-orders through their website. June 25th - via: au.businessinsider.com
Kickstarter, the world’s largest crowdfunding site, gives entrepreneurs a platform to raise money for pet projects like a new business, a film, or even a music video. To date, the site has collectively raised more than $679 million for more than 100,000 campaigns, launching the likes of the new gaming console Ouya and funding a feature film for “Veronica Mars” fans. But not all Kickstarters have a happy ending and success can be difficult to bear. (Read More)

Failed Kickstarter Project Bankrupts Seth Quest, Hanfree iPad Stand Inventor: Report

January 15th - via: huffingtonpost.com
When some projects on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter fail, their creators face nothing more than angry emails from backers until they either deliver an update on the product's status, or the product itself. But when entrepreneur Seth Quest didn't follow through on a Kickstarter project to create an iPad stand known as the Hanfree, he ended up facing a lawsuit and going bankrupt. "When you fail on Kickstarter, it's a very public failure," Quest told Inc. "It definitely derailed my career substantially. Your backers can give you massive support, but they can also tear you down if you fail." (Read More)
