‘Outbreak: Shades of Horror’ Kickstarter Fully Funded, Stretch Goals Revealed

Published

Dead Drop Studios has announced that their Kickstarter campaign for the upcoming Outbreak: Shades of Horror has reached its funding goal. The devs have now rolled out the stretch goals for the campaign, which has raised over $68,000 USD so far with 14 days to go.

Those Kickstarter stretch goals for Shades of Horror include things such as cross-platform multiplayer, AI survivor teammates, additional content like Operation: Rabid Wolf and an Ironman mode, and what’s referred to as the Dinobreak expansion pack (for you Dino Crisis fans).

“We are in awe of the tremendous support from our community of survivors! We feel so privileged to be able to develop Shades of Horror for them and bring retro style gaming to next-gen consoles,” say Evan & Julia Wolbach, co-founders of Dead Drop Studios. “We are over the moon that the style of gaming we grew up with will be available for a new generation to learn and enjoy.”

A love letter to Survival Horror games in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Shades of Horror centres on a cast of survivors as they fight to escape the city of Cypress Ridge during the early days of the zombie apocalypse. Characters from previous Outbreak games will be returning in Shades of Horror, and will also have their origin stories revealed. Each survivor will have their own backstory, explaining how they ended up in Cypress Ridge, as well as their own unique skills that will allow them to make their way through the city. Shades of Horror will encourage players to play as each of the survivors “in order to construct what has happened from bits and pieces of journal entries, recordings and radio station broadcasts scattered throughout the city.”

As before, the playable teaser for Outbreak: Shades of Horror is still available for players to try via SteamPlayStationXbox and Stadia.
