Vault Comics has announced its first foray into the Kickstarter universe. This September, the publisher will launch a crowdfunding campaign for Wasted Space: The Cosmic Collection, which is described as “a gigantic, deluxe omnibus edition” that “is an artifact so singular, so powerful, so incredibly irreverent, it could destroy the whole galaxy. For the first time in the history of the universe, all 25 issues of Vault’s groundbreaking, beloved science fiction series, Wasted Space, have been collected in one beautiful, oversized (yes, it’s bigger!), 672-page hardcover edition.”

Wasted Space

Written by Michael Moreci, drawn by Hayden Sherman, colored by Jason Wordie, and lettered by Jim Campbell, the comic is often named one of the greatest sci-fi comics ever created.

“From the very start, Wasted Space has been a labor of love for everyone involved, and being able to collect the entire story in one gorgeous hardcover is so rewarding,” said Moreci. “I’m thrilled we’re offering it directly to readers via Kickstarter so they can have it, read it, and put this enormous, beautiful book on their shelves. If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that Billy, Dust, and Molly would agree: you go big, or you go home. It doesn’t get much bigger than this massive tome!”

“Readers were always the thing pushing Wasted Space further,” added Sherman. “Without our readers, the book wouldn’t have been able to turn from a five-issue mini-series into the 25-issue galaxy/dimension-spanning saga it became. It’s incredible to me then that through Kickstarter we can come back around and directly bring those same readers a fully collected beautiful mega-book containing the entirety of Billy, Dust, Molly, and Squeee’s mad adventures. It’s a wonderful thing to be a part of.”

The Kickstarter for Wasted Space: The Cosmic Collection launches September 13, 2022, but fans can sign up early here

Read the full synopsis of the comic below:

Billy Bane is a prophet who got it all wrong, and the galaxy has been burning ever since. All he wants is to waste away in the darkest corner of space with his best pal Dust, a supercharged Fuq bot. But when a new prophet comes calling, Billy is summoned to save the galaxy he’s at least partially responsible for destroying.

Too bad he couldn’t care less.

Michael Moreci (Barbaric, Revealer) and Hayden Sherman (Dark Spaces: Wildfire) have thrown Preacher in a blender with Philip K. Dick. Take a sip and get wasted.
