VOLFYIRION GUILDS Takes Deck Building To A New, Magical Level
Board games can have great mechanics and great art, but Tabula Games seems to knock it out of the park in both areas every time with their games. Their successful library of games includes Mysthea, Icaion, Volfyirion, and more which all have pretty great ratings on Board Game Geek. Their newest game, which is currently on Kickstarter, is a continuation of Volfyirion called Volfyirion Guilds. This adds a single-player mode, it adds enough cards and parts to be played with two additional players (the original being two), and a bunch of other really cool additions.
Volfyirion Guilds is a fast-moving, competitive, deck-building game. Players will be trying to destroy opponents’ cities and tame the dragon by building up and refining their personal decks. There are five different factions, city management aspects, reduced randomness, and more. Check out The Dice Towers’ How To Play video below.
Along with quick matches and intense gameplay, the art here is stunning. Beautiful backdrops, creative creatures, and bright colors are all over the cards. There are also playmats, beautiful box art, and a pretty fancy miniature of the dragon depending on the Kickstarter package that you back. It is safe to say that this game will look as good as it plays.
While the game isn’t slated to be delivered until July of next year, players can check out the original Volfyirioin which can be played with Guilds when it comes out. Check out the Kickstarter HERE. This might be something right up your alley or maybe a cool introduction to deck-building games, but either way, it is worth checking out.
