Cartoonist Jason James and writer David Salt are raising money through Kickstarter in order to produce a seven-minute pilot episode for their series, The Closet Monsters

The creators say that this will be the first animated sitcom to be made in the UK for over a decade.

Jason and David said: “With several characters already in place, it is a concept that can grow & become multidimensional; we hope that you’ll come with us on this amazing journey.”

The Kickstarter campaign is split into two sections - pre-production and production, respectively - in order to make a start on the series as soon as possible.

This will be a big production, and will involve a team of really talented artists

Various rewards are available to those who back the project, including an opportunity to appear in the episode as an extra.

“This will be a big production, and will involve a team of really talented artists to bring this to the screen,” said the duo. “Our team will be made up of local talent as well as artists from Ireland, and the USA.”

The cartoon’s influences include Rick & Morty, South Park and The Simpsons, as well as various TV comedies from the eighties and nineties.
