Sirrush Corbetti Sponsored post presented on aBlogtoWatch by advertiser

Swedish microbrand Sirrush Watches debuts with its first collection of timepieces, the Corbetti Chronograph, launching this week on Kickstarter. Known for minimalist aesthetics and effective products, Sweden also has an automotive history filled with innovation. Sirrush merges these two national strengths into its watch design. The brand takes pride in offering a watch made of high-quality materials at an affordable price.

The brand’s name and strong designs are inspired by a mythological creature depicted on the magnificent Ishtar Gate of the city of Babylon, but its styling elements are pure supercar. For example, the chronograph pushers feature a texture and shape inspired by the iconic Bugatti horseshoe grille, and the signed, screw-down crown has a similar knurled texture. In addition to lending a racy look, the pattern should make the pushers and crown easy to operate, even while wearing racing gloves. The 120-click rotating external tachymeter bezel also has a texture that should also be easy to grip. The bezel’s design evokes racing chronographs from the past but modernizes the watch with a durable, scratch-resistant ceramic insert, and Super-LumiNova-filled numerals (BGW9 Grade A).

The other components of the watch also use materials not often seen in this price range. The crystal is sapphire and features three layers of anti-scratch and anti-reflective coating; the lume on the dial and hands is also Super-LumiNova, and even its 200 meters of water resistance is uncommonly high for an affordable chronograph. The movement is a 13-jewel Swiss Ronda Calibre 5040D. Below the polished metal logo sit three subdials in a pleasing 3-6-9 layout. They display running seconds at 3 o’clock,  a 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock, and a unique 1/10 seconds counter at 6 o’clock that changes to a 10-hour counter after 30 minutes of continuous timing. A black-on-white date display is present at 4:30.

Sirrush Corbetti Lume

At 42mm in diameter, with a 50mm lug-to-lug distance, the Corbetti is designed to fit well on a wide variety of wrists. The case allows for a large dial, offering great legibility. Brushed metal hands with large areas for lume reach across applied indices to the edge of the dial. The chronograph timing functions will also be easy to read at a glance, as they are colored in contrasting yellow. Sirrush plans to initially offer dials in black or blue with matching ceramic bezels (the blue dial with yellow hands gives a nod to the brand’s Swedish roots). If the stretch goal is reached, the ever-popular panda dial colorway with be offered with red chronograph hands and the choice of a red or black bezel.

Sirrush Corbetti caseback

The Corbetti’s screw-down caseback features a striking motif with a level of detail usually reserved for more expensive watches. A three-dimensional tiger head appears to float above a textured background. All important watch specs are also engraved around the perimeter.

Sirrush allows buyers to choose between a handmade Italian vegetable-tanned leather strap with a deployant buckle and a stainless steel bracelet with matching brushed and polished finishing. The bracelet features a hidden butterfly clasp, solid endlinks, screwed links for easy sizing, and polished center links that pair well with polished accents on the edges of the brushed case. Pricing is the same for either option. Watches will arrive in a black piano-lacquered wooden box that has a hidden drawer for storing extra straps.

Upon launch of the Sirrush campaign on February 15th, the Sirrush Corbetti Chronograph will start at $282 USD and increase to around $300 USD MSRP after the Kickstarter campaign concludes. Watches with a spec list like the Corbetti typically cost significantly more. For more information, visit the brand’s website, or check out its Kickstarter page to order.
