Super Smash Flash 2 is the most popular fan-made Smash game around that added in characters like Naruto, Goku and Lloyd Irving, but now the developers are looking to branch out into their own original title.

The team at McLeodGaming launched a Kickstarter campaign for Fraymakers, a new crossover platform fighter featuring a bunch of indie darlings — including Octodad of all characters — along with a slew of additional features and customization options.

Fraymakers currently has six playable characters revealed with more available through stretch goals with Welltaro (Downwell), Orcane (Rivals of Aether), Ultra Fishbunjin 3000 (Slap City), The Watcher (Slay the Spire), Octodad and CommanderVideo (BIT.TRIP series).

The game will also feature assist characters that pull from even more indie titles including Aine (Renaine), Captain Viridian (VVVVVV), Josef (Machinarium), Peppino (Pizza Tower), Lea (CrossCode), the Bard (Wandersong), Nikandreos (Apotheon), the Ape (Ape Out), the Shopkeeper (Downwell), Rockman (FTL: Faster Than Light), Tankman (Newgrounds), Lady Luck (Dicey Dungeons), the Silent (Slay the Spire), Fancy Pants Man (Fancy Pants), the Kid (I Wanna Be the Guy), Pizza (Chicory), Birthday (King of the Hat), and Diogenes (Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy).

A large amount of work seems to be going into the gameplay systems to make it stand out amongst the crowd of growing platform fighters with a different take on the shield and parry systems and cancellable air dashes.

Rollback netcode will obviously be included as well though perhaps its most interesting feature is customizable content that'll allow players to create their own characters and stages using included tools meant to make the process simpler for everyone to do and program.

Fraymakers' campaign launched with a goal of raising $46,000 USD which it has now eclipsed in under a day, as it currently sits with over $76,000 as of the time of reporting this with stretch goals for more characters, music and stages.

The game is scheduled to launch on Steam Early Access in early 2022. You can check out the Kickstarter trailer and screenshots for Fraymakers below.
