Trey Holmie, a Utah teenager with Down syndrome, recently completed an ambitious music video project as part of Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

The music video project, called "Project Trey," aims to overcome the negative stigma of a Down syndrome diagnosis and inspire others with Down syndrome to show they can be heroes in their communities.

Trey's music video (above) is a cover of "Hall of Fame" by the Script - a song he chose for its powerful lyrics about overcoming obstacles. Trey sang lead vocals on the project, accompanied by a few of his friends who also appear in the music video. Nearly 150 Kickstarter backers helped fund the project, raising $6,470 to help make Trey's dream a reality.

"Like many teenagers with Down syndrome, Trey has overcome health issues, learning disabilities, and difficulties connecting with other kids. The struggles he has overcome in his life are the inspiration for Project Trey," the Kickstarter page says.

BYU mascot Cosmo the Cougar also appears in the video, which premiered Wednesday at a red carpet event in Pleasant Grove.
