Deathground is Alien: Isolation except dinosaurs

Chaos.

An Alien: Isolation-style dinosaur game sounds pretty cool, doesn't it? Well, that's what a group of developers are hoping to make with Deathground.

New studio Jaw Drop Games has launched a Kickstarter for Deathground, which sees players try to survive against computer-controlled dinosaurs. Based on the debut trailer, this one's very firmly rooted in first-person horror.

The plan is to create a solo and co-op experience, so you can play in teams of up to three.

"Players form a group of professional hunters and survivalists on a mission to the 'Deathground' to retrieve high-value loot," reads the official blurb.

"The game features dynamic gameplay enriched with objectives, stealth and combat; unpredictable AI dinosaurs; special character classes; a range of items and weapons; and truly terrifying environments, harnessing the power of Unreal Engine 4."

Jaw Drop Games co-founder Dan Da Rocha (Q.U.B.E. 1 and 2, Hue) said the new studio has self-funded pre-production and developed early gameplay, but is now looking for £80,000 in crowdfunding to take the game into full production.

"We've been building the foundations of the game for over six months now and have been carefully planning our production pipeline and creative strategy," Da Rocha said.

"We've come to Kickstarter because we're confident there's an audience out there for this type of game and we'd love for the community to help shape the game experience, so together, we can create something incredible."

If all goes well, Deathground will launch on PC via Steam in Early Access form during the third quarter of 2021.
