Coming off its two acclaimed video games, it's no wonder that Divinity: Original Sin would seem like a natural fit for board games. Thankfully, Lynnvander Studios and Larian Studios made that dream a reality a few weeks ago with the launch of a Kickstarter for Divinity Original Sin: The Board Game, and two weeks in the project seems to be off to an impressive start with room to grow.

Over on Kickstarter, Divinity Original Sin: The Board Game has reached over $1 million in crowdfunding since the project first launched two weeks ago, putting the campaign's funding at $1,031,621 (as of this writing). With the project originally seeking $160,000 in funding, Lynnvander and Larian were already off to a great start with the project having surpassed its goal several times over, and with there still being 13 days until the Kickstarter campaign's end.

With the project having reached its $1 million goal post, that also means that the project has now completed all of its stretch goals, with the final $1 million goal being the addition of Slane the Winter Dragon as a new boss enemy encounter in the final game.

In an update on the Kickstarter page for Divinity Original Sin: The Board Game, Larian Studios addressed the next steps for the game and where it will be heading in the remaining window of the project's campaign. Specifically, Larian said that with the completion of the project's final stretch goal, "anything we would add now hasn't been factored into the game originally," and added that "we want to make sure we can manage them and that they'll benefit the game in a meaningful way." While no additional details have been revealed just yet as to what we can expect from additional stretch goals or features being integrated into the game, Larian said that "over the next few days we're going to sit together and look over our options and decide what comes next," and said to expect an update sometime next week.

At the moment, Larian is currently bringing Divinity Original Sin: The Board Game to PAX Unplugged this weekend in Philadelphia, PA to demo the game and gain feedback from players at the show. We'll happen to be attending the show and demoing the game for ourselves, so check back in next week for some impressions of the board game adaptation of the acclaimed RPGs and more very soon.
