A Kickstarter campaign for "Veronica Mars: the Movie" has pulled in over $5.7 million. The goal of the pledge drive is to make a film version of the program which ran for three seasons (2004-2007).
The campaign was begun by show creator Rob Thomas and its lead star, Kristen Bell, who were attempting to raise $2 million to cover the production budget of the flick.
That goal was hit after just 11 hours with 91,000 individuals putting their money into its making. One fan who gave $10,000 will get a minor role.
"I have never fallen so deeply in love with a character," Bell told Entertainment Weekly of the TV Show. "We all became so close, and the cancellation of the show left a huge hole in my heart."
"Veronica Mars: the Movie" is set for an early 2014 release.
