Reading Rainbow may be coming to a computer screen near you sooner than later.
According to The Root, LeVar Burton, executive producer and host of the show, has raised over $5,400,000 in an effort to create an online version of the popular PBS program.
After launching the Kickstarter campaign at the end of May, Burton exceeded his original goal of $1 million within hours. Now, nearly a month later the project has over 100,000 supporters and has broken a Kickstarter record for most individual donations.
Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy has also stepped in, pledging to match donations up to $1 Million.
Reading Rainbow’s crowdfunding campaign is now the fifth-most funded project on Kickstarter.
